Shows hieroglyphic for the horizon guarded by Aker or Ruti, the god in the form of two lions (yesterday and tomorrow) believed to guard the eastern and western horizons as the points where the sun touches the twin-peaked mountain top of the earth where it leaves and re-enters the underworld.
The Ancient Egyptian papyrus (of Ani) that is the source of this vignette is in the British Museum. The same image is found copied in many places without clear source or attribution. This instance of the image is used by kind permission of the owner of the site www.pernefer.de
