Akshinsky District

Akshinsky District (Russian: Акшинский райо́н) is a district (raion) of Chita Oblast. The district's administrative center is the village (selo) of Aksha. District's population: 12,080 (2002 Census); 14,695 (1989 Census). Area: 7,400 km².
The district was founded on January 4, 1926. It is located some 300 km south of Chita. The district borders Ononsky, Uletovsky, and Kyrinsky Districts of Chita Oblast, Agin-Buryat Autonomous Okrug, and Mongolia.
The Onon River flows through the district.
The district's landscape is suitable for agriculture. The mineral resources of the district include gold, uranium, precious stones, and timber.
