Alaskan Hotel and Bar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Alaskan Hotel and Bar is an historic establishment in Cordova, Alaska. The town is situated on Orca Inlet in the southeastern corner of Prince William Sound (area affected by the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill) in south central Alaska.
Ongoing renovations include structural re-support (complete), new windows (scheduled for spring 2007), bar floor refinish (in progress), and some attempts to recapture the original ambiance of the building, in addition to continual maintenance of this year-round business.
The building could perhaps be best described as rustic/eclectic, with some historical preservation. Elegant, it is not. Purely representative of the original establishment, no. But a comfortable, unique, interesting, and living part of Alaskan historical legacy it most certainly is.
