Albert Roux

Albert Roux (born 1936) is a French-born restaurateur working in Britain.

Roux, the son of a charcutier, was born in Carolles and moved to London to work as a chef for the Cazalet family. In 1967 he and his younger brother Michel opened Le Gavroche, Britain's first Michelin-starred restaurant, in London.

Roux once made an appearance on the British sitcom Chef! playing himself in the 1993 episode "The Big Cheese".

In a poll of UK chefs carried out by Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine in 2003, Albert and his brother Michel were voted the most influential chefs in the country.
