Alceo Galliera

Alceo Galliera (1910-1996) was a distinguished Italian conductor.
Galliera studied at the Milan Conservatory piano, organ, and composition.
Among the orchestras he conducted was the orchestra of Teatro alla Scala and Rome's Santa Cecilia Academy Orchestra. He conducted Maria Callas in Operas, as well as concerts with such greats as Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Dinu Lipatti. He also worked at the Lucerne Festival where he conducted the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Salzburg Festival where he conducted the Vienna Philharmonic.
