Ryazan Aleksandrovo (also given as Alexandrovo and Protasovo) is an air base in Ryazan Oblast, Russia located 19 km southeast of Ryazan. It was probably an attack aircraft base during the Cold War. During the 1990s it housed Mi-8 and Mi-24 aircraft of the Russian Air Force. However Google Earth high-resolution images accessed in 2006 show the airfield is vacated; no aircraft are seen.
Russian websites show the base is now home to the 86th Reserve Helicopter Base of the 16th Air Army or Special Purpose Command of the Russian Air Force. 72 Mi-24s and 66 Mi-8s, plus 140 personnel, reportly comprise the base.
