Alessandro Vollero

Alessandro Vollero was a New York mobster and a high ranking member of the Cammora, serving as a lieutenant to Pelligino Morano during the Mafia-Cammora War of 1916. He later participated in the murders of Nicholas Morello and Charles Unbriaco by luring the two Sicilian mafiosi to Navy Street's Vollero's Cafe on the pretext of arranging a ceasefire with Morano where Morello and Umbraico were gunned down on November 6, 1916.
Although Morano and Vollero successfully arrainged the murder of Nicholas Terranova, the assassins "Torpedo" Tony Notaro and Ralph Daniello were eventually apprehended with Daniello agreeing to turn states' evidence in exchange for a reduced sentence.
Based on his testimony, he was convicted of first degree murder with Morano and five others of murder and sentenced to the death house at Sing Sing Prison on June 20, 1918 [1], however his sentence was later communted to life imprisonment.
During his imprisonment, he became aquaintences with then third time offender Joe Valachi and served 14 years before his eventual release on April 28, 1933.
