Aliso Viejo Middle School is located in Aliso Viejo, California, and currently has 1,201 students enrolled. It's principal is Peggy Swanson, and it is located in the Capistrano Unified School District. It considered to be an excellent school, located within the top 10% of all of California's comparable middle schools.

AVMS was a California Distinguished School in 1996 and a National Blue Ribbon School in 2000. It consistently scores high on standardized tests, and is in the top 10% of comparable schools. It has also won awards in the VideoFest, CA State Media Festival, and National History Day. It is known for its consistent excellence in technology, aided by CAPOUSD's COMPEL

AVMS has been host to a "Marathon Team" since the year 2002, with less than 20 runners competing. It is overseen by the organization SRLA. Math teacher, Mr. Ewell has been the head coach of this team every year, and has coordinated weekend runs with schools such as don juan avila middle school and newhart middle school.
