Aljažev stolp
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aljažev stolp (the Aljaž tower) is located at the top of the mountain Triglav. Together with Triglav, it is a landmark of Slovenian territory and an important symbol of Slovenia. It also provides short-term shelter for mountaineers.
The opening of the tower was on August 7, 1895. Jakob Aljaž, a priest from Dovje, designed the tower and had it erected as well. The cylindrical metal tower with a flag on the top was made by A. Belec from St. Vid. In 1922, the tower was re-painted by Alojz Knafelc.
