Alpha-Bits
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Alpha-Bits, also known as Frosted Alpha-Bits, is a breakfast cereal made by Post Cereals, which for many years contained frosted alphabet-shaped corn cereal bits and now is no longer artificially sweetened. Post Cereals also produces Marshmallow Alpha-Bits.
Post Cereals introduced the cereal and Marshmallow Alpha-Bits in 1958.
The mascot for Alpha-Bits was the Alpha-Bits Wizard, who appeared near children in kitchens. In Canada, the current Alpha-Bits mascot is Alpha, a computer who "makes bits". The Canadian Alpha at first resembled IBM PCs, but recent versions have begun to look like Apple PCs. In the 1980's there was yet another mascot that was referred to by the saying, "Alfie," the Alpha-Bits cereal wonder dog.
