[edit] Ownership of this page
- Users do not "own" wikipedia pages.
- 1) If there is currently any copyrighted material, please promptly delete that material (certainly not the whole page). Note that the page has been modified over 100 times and as such is (or was) not a copy and paste from the site. Also, facts are not copyrightable; for example the fact that the Woodland Violet is the official flower of ADP is not copyrightable. A particular expression of that fact is what is copyrightable. You should expect that any content will be modified relentlessly by the community going forward.
- 2) If you wish to, add a
template to a wikipedia user name that corresponds to either your username or the username for the above noted associate executive director if that person is going to be the maintainer.
- 3) Read the comment in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Maintained which says that page maintainers do not "own" the page and that other users are not forced to "clear" changes with the maintainer. It is more that maintainer is an recognized expert in the subject area whose opinions should be given somewhat more weight. There are distinct limits to this weighting. For example, if there was a paragraph about some past scandal at ADP, it would be inappropriate for the maintainer to delete that paragraph even though it wasn't favorable to the image or current "party line" of ADP. That sort of deletion would likely be quickly reverted and the credibility of the "maintainer" would be brought into question. Thanks Brholden 17:37, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

- Just to make this clear, I did not claim to "own" this or any other wikipedia page. Granted, I've been in an edit conflict over a notable alumnae recently but even that it has remained civil and I have asked the member to wait until I receive verification from ADPi before reinstating the alumnae as a notable. Disregarding that I have been watching this page and trying to bring it out of copyvio status for some time, I have been in contact with the sorority to see what is permissible to take directly from the site (See links below for copyvio examples). The tag I have placed is at the request of the ADPi Executive Director, which I will change to reflect a more open attitude as accepted by wikipedia. Anybody has the right to add, delete, and edit this page, it is Wikipedia after all, and I am not suggesting that people should not edit this page. As for being out of copyright status, despite the number of edits it still remains the same. For example: Symbols, Timeline, Founding of, Founding of, unless I am wrong sections from these pages are pretty much copied word for word. The timeline I slimmed down so it only included the highlights of ADPi's illustrious history. I hope this clarifies things for both you and others. Thank you. --ImmortalGoddezz 18:25, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright Violation
This whole page is basically copied from ADPi's website. Given their web policy I'm unsure if it's actually a copy vio, but I'm emailing them to find out. --ImmortalGoddezz 20:51, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
- Please promptly delete any copyrighted material. Also, see comment above. Thanks Brholden 17:37, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Given their vague and ambiguous copyright policy on their webpage it's not clear if the information is in fact copyrighted. Which is why I contacted them in the first place. If it was clearly a case of copyright infringment I would infact delete the info, or place a {{copyright}} tag on it. Thank you. --ImmortalGoddezz 17:49, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- My suggestion is "if in doubt, throw it out". Things on websites generally are copyrighted by default (without needing to be marked as such). It is probably better if you assume that anything copied from their website violates their copyright and just delete it or rewrite the same material in different words to produce a page that meets WP:Copyrights. Thanks Brholden 21:26, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I am aware of the copyright policy as I am not a new editor to wikipedia. I do understand that most things are copied straight from the website, but in this case I was not looking to verify information but to get use of the coat of arms and pin image. That's where most of this has come from. Since then I've been in contact with the sorority about the page I don't see the point in deleting the information or rewriting it at this time, but that's just me, and if you or others want to feel free. Since the coat of arms, and pin (" the badge, as well as the name 'Alpha Delta Pi' and 'ΑΔΠ'" [1]) are registered trademarks of the sorority I wanted verification that I could use them in the first place. Since obviously this is a bigger problem to some people than what I ever thought it would be I will just ask for their permission to use the copyrighted material via boilerplate. --ImmortalGoddezz 22:21, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Notable alumnae
To merit inclusion into the notable alumnae list it has to be able to be substantiated. (Speaking about Nancy Grace) Going to the Mercer chapter I am unable to find that they actually consider her an alumnae. She is also not on the main ADPi chapter list, when it is in fact confirmed I will add her back to the notable alumnae list. Until then I will continue to remove her and any alumnae that is unsubstantiated. Also, a chapter website is generally not a valid reference point for notable alumnae and a main sorority or fraternity website is generally a safer and more truthful option. Thank You. --ImmortalGoddezz 02:03, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Once again, once the information is verfied I will add her back to the ADPi list, until then it is suggested that she is not displayed as an ADPi on the main list. --ImmortalGoddezz 22:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
