Alright, Still is the debut album by the English Pop singer Lily Allen, released in the UK on July 17, 2006 by Regal Zonophone Records (see 2006 in British music). The album title is taken from a lyric in the song "Knock 'Em Out" and was also a MySpace featured album, which meant that fans could listen to it, before it was released.
There are only two censored words on the album; 'cunt' in 'Friday Night' which is replaced by scratching noises, and at the end of 'Knock 'Em Out', Lily's speaking part is cut off before she can mention AIDS. However, in the original/demo version of 'Knock 'Em Out', this line remains. Also in the original version, an extra line 'please fuck off' was included, but was however cut for the album release.
The album ended 2006 as the twenty-ninth best selling album in the UK, with sales over 523,000 copies.[1]
On the week ending on January 28, 2007, British artists made chart history taking all Top 10 places in the Official UK Albums chart for the first time since the chart was established in 1956, according to British record labels trade association the BPI; the album "Alright, Still" was number-nine that week.[2]
The album was released by Regal Records in the United Kingdom, Toshiba-EMI in Japan, Capitol Records in the United States, and by other imprints of EMI internationally.
