Alva Xar is the name of a fictional supervillain from the DC Universe. He debuted in Mystery in Space #81 (February 1963) in a story written Gardner Fox and drawn by Carmine Infantino.

Alva Xar is a bald, male humanoid native of the planet Rann. 1000 years before the present time he ruled the planet, but was overthrown. Placing himself in suspended animation in order to hide from his enemies, he is revived in the present day intent on once againg ruling Rann. His plans to do so are defeated by Adam Strange. Xar returned several times to fight Strange; his final appearance was in Green Lantern #144 (September 1981).
