Always is a classic ballad written by Irving Berlin. It was written in 1925, supposedly as a wedding gift for his wife Ellin McKay, whom he married in 1926, and to whom he donated the substantial royalties. Adopted as a standard practically since its first release, in 1942 it was used as the theme music for the movie The Pride of the Yankees. Hit versions have been recorded by such diverse artists as Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday, Billy Corgan, Guy Lombardo, Leonard Cohen, and The Ink Spots.
