The American Chillers series was started in November 2001 with the release of Michigan Mega Monsters and is written by Michigan author Johnathan Rand. After his success with the Michigan Chillers series he got letters from people all over America asking to write about their city. Instead he wrote about their states. Johnathan Rand plans on making a book for all 50 states and has nineteen done with the twentieth on the way.
