The American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) is the leading American NGO focused on providing humanitarian aid to the Middle East. Since 1968, ANERA has partnered with local groups to create opportunity and hope in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan. ANERA's programs in health care, education and job creation directly benefit more than one million people every year.
Initially providing aid to Palestinians immediately following the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, ANERA now addresses the long-term economic and social needs of Palestinians, Lebanese and Jordanians, and also provides relief during emergencies.
ANERA delivers immediate and concrete results by virtue of its decades of experience in the region and highly trained staff in Jerusalem, Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Jordan. ANERA helps local institutions become more self-sufficient and effective in serving their communities. Every project is planned in consultation with the communities that ultimately benefit - and approach that ensures relevancy and commitment, and secures the long-term viability of the projects.

ANERA creates opportunity and hope for people in the Middle East by improving health care and education and stimulating job creation.

Health and Relief: For nearly four decades, ANERA has delivered emergency relief and medical supplies to communities in the Middle East. Today, ANERA continues its legacy of assisting local health care providers deliver quality services to their communities.
Education: From kindergarten to university work, ANERA opens doors for children, women and men in the Middle East to discover opportunities for learning. Through innovative projects that build new schools, offer after-school programs, train preschool teachers and principles, teach information technology, support music education and help disadvantaged children to go to school, ANERA helps people reach their potential.
Community and Economic Development: ANERA finds ways to help men and women in the Middle East persevere through difficult economic times. ANERA creates jobs that rebuild infrastructure such as schools, health clinics and water wells. It offers job training programs to help people become entrepreneurs with access to small business loans and job opportunities.

ANERA is a registered 501(c)3 non-governmental organization and a founding member of InterAction, a coalition of over 160 US-based non-profits working to promote worldwide development. We also are registered with Global Impact, a group of 32 distinguished American charitable agencies working throughout the developing world. ANERA has offices in Washington, D.C.; Jerusalem; Gaza; Beirut, Lebanon and Amman, Jordan.
ANERA views relief—alleviating suffering—and development—reducing poverty—as beginning and end points on a continuum of human need.
