Amherst High School (New York)

Amherst Central High School is a public high school in Amherst, New York. It is the only high school of the Amherst Central School District. Its current school population is approximately 1000 students. The building itself dates back to 1931 when construction began. The school boasts a modern turf field which played host to not only the home team Tigers games, but a large number of state and sectional playoff games.
Famous graduates of the school include James Whitmore, Alex Ebsary, and Amanda Blake.
Amherst has a thriving Drama and Music Deptartment. The two small ensemble vocal groups are Varsity Singers and Sweet Sixteens, which have performed with The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, and the like. Recent shows under the Michael Breen (Drama Director) and Lisa Ludwig Kramer (Operetta Director) include:
