Amsterdam Stakes

The Amsterdam Stakes is a race for thoroughbred horses held in August at Saratoga Race Course in upstate New York. The Amsterdam is open to horses age three and up, willing to sprint six and a half furlongs on the dirt. It is a Grade II event and offers a purse of $150,000.
Prior to 1998, this race was run as the Screen King. The race is named in honor of Amsterdam, New York, a city in upstate New York west of Saratoga.
The 2006 edition, was the 14th running of this race. The very successful stallion, Distorted Humor, won the Amsterdam (Screen King) in 1996.
