Amuria is a town in Teso, northeastern Uganda. It is located at 2°2' N, 33°38' E at an altitude of 1200 metres, and has a population of approximately 4500. Amuria was part of katakwi district until of recent when it obtained district status. It comprises of two counties; Amuria and Kapelebyong. Ateso is the main language spoken. Amuria county has five sub-counties namely Wera, Kuju, Asamuk, Orungo and Abarilela. Kapelebyong county comprises of two subcouties, Achowa and Kapelebyong sub-counties.
