Andy Kennedy (basketball)

Andy Kennedy is the basketball head coach at University of Mississippi. He was born on March 13, 1968, in Louisville, Mississippi. He began his coaching career at South Alabama, and UAB as an assistant coach, before heading to Cincinnati. He was the interim basketball coach at Cincinnati after Bob Huggins was fired during the 2005-2006 season. He is known for his excellent style of recruiting, and has developed a national reputation as a top recruiter.

He was a 1986 Parade All-American, as well as the Mississippi Player of the Year at Louisville High School. He started his collegiate career at North Carolina State where he was a member of Jim Valvano's 1987 Atlantic Coast Conference championship team. He then transferred to UAB where over the next three seasons he became the school's No. 2 all-time leading scorer with 1,787 points, an 18.8-point career scoring average.
He still holds or shares 20 Blazer records, including most 3-point field goals (318), highest career 3-point percentage (.437), most 20-point games (43), most 30-point games (7) and the single game scoring mark of 41 points.
