Aneesh Raman

Aneesh Raman is CNN's Middle East correspondent based in Cairo. A former Baghdad correspondent, he was brought back to cover the Saddam Hussein execution on Dec. 30, 2006. He was the first western journalist to announce the execution itself, quoting Arab television.
Before that, he was based in Baghdad. Prior to Baghdad posting, he was in Bangkok. During that time he was one of the first reporters to go live from Phuket, Thailand after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake. In addition to Iraq and Thailand he has traveled to Iran, Syria, England, Japan, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia.
He has also done a number of political stories for a show that used to be on CNN, Inside Politics profiling the young generation and their involvement in the American 2004 presidential election.
Aneesh was a Fulbright Scholar after graduating from Harvard College magna cum laude.
