NOTE:- The info contained beneath, and the title of the picture are incorrect. The whole painting shows portraits of four Medici boys:- the deceased Giuliano's son Giulio stands next to his uncle Lorenzo the Magnificent (in his father's place). The three sons of Lorenzo are shown with their tutor. Piero, the eldest, is walking second. The blonde Giovanni who was to be Pope Leo X is in last. Giuliano (named for his uncle) is about 5 years old and walks with his teacher. The child in this picture is Giuliano. Piero is unmistakable. He looks mildly intellectually delayed. Lorenzo was very worried about him becoming head of the family, and got the very clever Giovanni into the chuch while he ws still a child. --Amandajm 05:46, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

As far as I am aware this is the only known image painted of Piero II de' Medici (the Unfortunate) (1471–1503), Lord of Florence. It shows Piero with his Humanist teacher Angelo_Poliziano.

Have seen the same image in Paul Strathern's "The Medici Godfathers of the Renaissance".

The photo of this fresco by Ghirlandaio was taken in the Sassetti Chapel in Santa Trinità, Florence and is called "Confirmation of the Rule", 1482-1485.

I am uploading it as wish to place this image on the Piero de' Medici (Piero the Unfortunate) article.
