Annette Sterling
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Annette Sterling (born July 4, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan as Annette Beard) is an American soul and R&B singer and one of the original members of the legendary Motown girl group Martha and the Vandellas. She joined her childhood friends Martha Reeves, Rosalind Ashford and Gloria Williamson in forming the Del-Phis in 1960. The group's name changed twice until finally coming up with Martha and the Vandellas in 1962. Sterling was shortly with the group for a year before she suddenly retired to start a family. Sterling, though, was part of the group's 1963 breakthrough singles, "Come And Get These Memories", "(Love is Like a) Heat Wave" and "Quicksand". Sterling was inducted with other members of the group to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995. She still performs on occasion with Reeves and Ashford.
