Anthony Alridge (born November 24, 1983 in Denton, Texas) is an American football player for the University of Houston football team.

[edit] Personal Life
Alridge was born to Vincent and Lisa Alridge in Denton, Texas, where he grew up. He graduated from Denton High School in 2003. Alridge currently attends the University of Houston where he is majoring in sociology.[1]
[edit] High School Career
Alridge played for the Denton High School football team as an all-purpose back. During his time at Denton, Alridge was named Honorable Mention AP 4A All-State, selected to the Max Emfinger Texas Super All-State Team, picked Texas Sports Writers Association Third-Team, All-State and named District 6-4A Offensive Player-of-the-Year.[2]

Alridge chose to attend the University of Houston where he was reshirted as a freshman. He was not enrolled at the university for the 2004 season and sat out.
Alridge was originally recruited to the University of Houston to play wide receiver, and saw his most significant time at the position during 2005 season when he appeared in all 12 games, starting in half of those games. He was the Cougars leading receiver at yards per catch with an average of 22.7.[3]
Alridge was approached after the 2005 season and asked if he would be interested in playing significant time at running back. Alridge agreed and finished the 2006 season with 959 rushing yards on only 95 attempts for an NCAA Division 1-A leading[4] rushing average of 10.1 yards per attempt.[5]
With the Cougars' senior running back Jackie Battle graduating, Alridge will be expected to handle the bulk of running back duty for the 2007 season. Battle and Alridge combined for 1,762 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns during the 2006 regular season.[6]

- Alridge received the nickname "Quick" or "Quick Six" from his teammates due to his quickness, both to the outside of the line of scrimmage, as well as his speed down the field.[7]
