Talk:Anti-Miscegenation Amendment
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was going to add text of the amendment, and clean up the commentary, but Wikipedia won't let me as it has "already been edited" -- of course it was -- by me.
Bailing out of Wikipedia for good. There are too many cites now paying for information.
Why are gay rights issues in this article? Anti-Miscegenation laws in the Jim Crow era were intended to prohibit interracial marriages not gay marriage. While there is certainly a connection in term of some people wishing to place limits on the right to marriage, gay marriage has no place in this article, which is to deal with proposed Constitutional Amendment to ban interracial marriage in 1911. The information on gay marriage needs to removed since it has nothing to do with that 1911 Amendment. Perhaps a link to gay marriage issues on the bottom would suffice. --Ian Struan 07:01, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. I trimmed some of the stuff that wasn't germane to the article. Sorry I botched the edit summary, though. DCB4W 01:36, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
