From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Archondiko is a small village outside the Greek town of Gianitsa, and is quite close to the village of Messiano. A lot of people who nowadays live in Gianitsa can trace their lineage back to Archondiko.
The village is pretty small and can be driven through in about a minute. It is famous for its small church.
Archondiko is also a small village located 32 km south of Heraklion Crete. It has a small population of 200-300 which mainly deal in the production of olive oil. The nearest town is Arkalochori (2km) which caters for all the Archondiko residents needs.
The promise of employment has moved many of the residents to cities like Heraklion, Athens and also Sydney Australia. Most of these residents return to the village during the summer months.
