The Armstrong Sharks are a Junior ice hockey team based out of Armstrong, British Columbia. They play out of the WHA Junior West Hockey League.
[edit] History
The Sharks are currently playing in their inaugural season as a member of the renegade WHA Junior West Hockey League, and are playing at a level of hockey relatively close to the rival sanctioned British Columbia Hockey League.
The teams logo is taken from the defunct World Hockey Association's Los Angeles Sharks from the 1970s.
An offensively minded team, the Sharks are led by Phil Garnett, Dustin Johnson, and Kyle Valentyik up front. The Sharks' goaltenders are Sean Blake and Troy Newport.
The Sharks lost their first ever game on September 21, 2006 to the Lumby Fighting Saints 6-4 at home. The Sharks got their first ever victory the next night against the Squamish Cougars by a score of 6-3.
The Sharks finished their first ever season in 4th place out of six teams. In the playoffs, the Sharks played in a round robin against the Osoyoos Spurs and the Lumby Fighting Saints. The Saints swept the round robin to move on the league final, while the Sharks were robbed of their final round robin game as it was cancelled due to the Spurs' financial problems.
