Arsenic acid, H3AsO4, is the acid form of arsenate ion, AsO43−, a trivalent anion. Arsenate salts behave chemically very similarly to the phosphates. Arsenic acid is only found in solution but its hemihydrate form (H3AsO4·½H2O) does form stable crystals.
[edit] Applications
Arsenic acid is used in wood treatment, finishing agent for glass and metal, in the manufacturing of dyestuffs and organic arsenic compounds and also in soil sterilant. It can moreover be used as a herbicide, insecticide or rodenticide.
