Art Research Center was founded in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974 by constructivist artist Michael Stephens. No one knows what actually happened to T.Michael Stephens since the early 1980's,as he later disappeared into obscurity in an attempt to hide from debt.
International exhibits focused on multi-disciplinary experiments in constructive arts, exploring the relationship between art, science and technology and expositing issues of sensory perception with aesthetic structures.
The merit or seriousness of the so-called Art Research Center remains a question today,as some people have suggested that it was merely a means for T.Michael Stephens to seek funds,grants and financial support for questionable activity of questionable merit.
