From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Artificial dwelling hills (also known as Terp, Wierde, Warft, and Werf) are hills that were created by humans to have a dry shelter during high tide. These hills occur in the northern part of the Netherlands and Germany where, before dikes were made, tides interfered with daily life.
