I don't think that's a screenshot of version 2.2.1. It might be a good idea to update the screenshot to show a render window, too.
OK, just did more updating...I need to get a user account so I can upload images. I think it would be cool to see some of Nate's work posted on the page too, but I'm not sure how he feels about it (good, I would hope...) -Marc
- Updated screenshot, added some other renders and a PME development screenshot in the development section.
Language: I discussed (well, was advised on) this on #wikipedia - since the author (Peter Eastman) is American, we go with American English spelling, e.g. use "modeling" instead of "modelling" and "color" instead of "colour"
Fixed the Links at the bottom. I think AOI moved to a new server.
- Thanks for updating the links - artofillusion.org is actually the official address but it seemed to be unreliable there for a bit. Maruchan 04:06, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
A couple of more updates. -AFYFAF
[edit] import/export
According to the manual:
Import allows 3D models in formats other than AoI to be opened. The only supported file format is wavefront .OBJ and the importer also allows OBJ materials to be imported. Simply select the OBJ file when prompted and the material file will be automatically read and converted to an AoI texture. The model will automatically be scaled on import to better fit AoI scale units.
Export AoI can save 3D models/scenes in 3D formats other than AoI. Export can be made to either Wavefront OBJ, VRML or Povray v3.5 files including partial support for textures. You can select whether to export the whole scene or just the selected object and can specify the maximum surface error in the appropriate dialogue shown below. A lower value for the error will result in a more complex and, therefore, larger export file.
Corrected the file handling section to reflect this. If these file formats are functional via plugin or third party program, it should be noted as such, not as a native feature of AoI. ~ Eidako 12:13, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
