Asher Student Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Asher Student Foundation is an organization that provides a place of residence for college students who are also practicing Christian Scientists. There are currently eight college campuses with "Asher Houses," as they are referred to. Residence is provided for students enrolled in a degree or certificate program at a college, university, vocational school or other professional training program. Since the Asher Student Foundation is a private, religious institution, most Asher Houses require that candidates for residence show some proof of their interest in Christian Science; however, students who do not identify with Christian Science but nevertheless abstain from smoking, alcohol, and complete reliance on medicinal treatments to illness are sometimes admitted, depending on the situation. Rates currently range between $150 and $700 USD per month, depending on which city the house is located in.
