Asian fashion doll
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Asian fashion dolls are made by Asian manufacturers, or are targeted for an Asian audience; they are currently (2007) growing in popularity (such as with Momoko Doll[1]) and attracting attention[2]. As one might expect, many of these dolls have Asian features (even if obscured by artistic simplification or stylization, such as the anime-style Jenny[3]), clothing lines that may include Asian themes, and in some cases Asian names (such as "Momoko" or "Taeyang"[4]). Since Asia is heavily Westernized, it is only natural some Asian fashion dolls are dominated by Western dress, such as with Momoko Doll's lineup[5], Pullip's wardrobe[6], or the extensive Jenny fashions[7]. However, more traditional Asian dress is also represented, such as with kimono-centric Annz dolls[8], a number of Jenny dolls dressed in kimonos, some Momoko dolls, some Pullips, and so on.
