Asim Brkan is a well recognized ex-Yugoslavian singer with unique voice abilities, excellent diction and an outstanding way of performing. He was born in 1954 in Mostar, Bosnia and started his active career in 1978 in Belgrade-PGP RTS and Zagreb-Jugoton.
His great hits: "Ne rusi recu nepoznata zeno", "Jednom sam i ja volio", "Imal` neko da mi kaze", "Najljepsu haljinu veceras obuci", "Ljubavi vladaju svijetom", "Vjerenicki prsten" and many others made him the greatest Yugoslavian star between 1979 and 1990. By the start of war he left Serbia and went to Germany and Holland. Soon he returned to Bosnia where he still lives. After a few average efforts to come back he eventually retired from his professional career in 1998. When you look at his career from this time distance, the main conclusion is that he was a great singer, with nice sense for art, with good looks and a polite behavior--all of these characteristics made him a legend whose appearance and music were extremely popular , and a performer who managed to satisfy critics and and a population of higher intellectual level.
