Asim Kurjak

Dr. Asim Kurjak (born 1942 in Kotor Varoš, Kingdom of Yugoslavia, now Bosnia-Herzegovina) is a famous Bosnian doctor working at the University of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. Kurjak is one of the most famous gynecologists in ex-Yugoslavia. He has published numerous books both in English and Croatian.
Professir Kurjak has 246 citations in Medline. He is the founder and current director of the Ian Donalds school of Ultrasound which has numerous branches internationally. He is considered to be a world authority in Maternal-Fetal medicine.
Kurjak got into the focus of Croatian and Bosnian public regarding controversies surrounding death of a patient in 2002, and even more for allegations of plagiarism of 1 book chapter in 2005 and 1 article published in the 1970s.
Nevertheless, the allegations made by Iain Chamlers on the BMJ started a chain of electronic responses from major institutes and authorities. Almost all responses appreciated Professor Kurjak and his magnificent achievements towards the advancement to the field of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
