Augusta formed in 2004 in Toronto. Violinist Mo Farag came from a strong classical background while guitarist Kevin Schiemann came from a pop/rock background. This formed Augusta's unusual mix of classic folk rock. To date they have released two EP's as well as a non-profit uncopyrighted Beatles cover album.

In October 2005 Augusta's self-titled album Augusta (album) was released. The album was strictly violin and layer guitars with the exception of Billygoat which had vocals. The album's case was made purely of thick paper and features photographs of Augusta busking in Kensington Market. The photos were taken by Mo's father. After sales of the album unexpectedly rose for an indie label, a second printing of the album was issued with some changes to the fonts as well as more information on the case.

In April 2006 Augusta released there second album No Good. The title was joking test to see if people would buy something that advertised it self as no good. It appeared to have little affect. The album featured a larger variety of instruments including piano, drums, and bass. Although the sales haven't been as high as there first album, No Good is slowing gaining ground.
Augusta is currently recording a third EP. There have been conflicting reports on its title; one rumoured title is "Sally Dutchess of Montana" and another is "Sex Drugs and Muslims".
