Augusta Mall is a two story super-regional shopping mall and lifestyle center located in Augusta, Georgia. It opened on August 3, 1978, one week before the now defunt Regency Mall. It is one the largest malls in the state of Georgia, and it is the largest and only mall in Augusta. Unlike Regency Mall, Augusta Mall has been very succesful since it opened. Augusta Mall has five anchors: Dillard's, JCPenney, Sear's, Macy's, and Macy's Furniture Showroom. When Augusta Mall first opened it anchors were Rich's and Davison's. It had 100 stores at that time. JCPenney moved into the mall in 1979 after deciding not to build at Regency Mall. Sear's joined the mall in 1990. J.B. White was the last anchor to join the mall, it closed it's Regency Mall location and joined 1998, just as it joined it immediately became Dillard's, after the J.B. White chain was sold.
