The ALPCA is the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association, the largest such organization in the United States. It has spread across the world, (with the bulk of the members being in the United States or Canada, with Germany in third place). There are currently over 10,000 registered member numbers, although many of the lower (and therefore, earlier, numbers) numbered users are now deceased.
Despite the name, licence plates from vehicles other than automobiles are also collected, traded, and sold.
