Awaji, Hyogo

Awaji (淡路市; -shi) is a city located on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Awaji City was founded on April 1, 2005 from the merger of the town of Awaji with the neighboring towns of Higashiura, Hokudan, Ichinomiya and Tsuna, all in Tsuna District.
As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 51,748 and a density of 281.16 persons per km². The total area is 184.05 km².
