Bad Music Inc. (formed 2004; Haringey, North London, UK), Also known as B.M.I., are an Alternative, Rock, Blues and Hip Hop act. Their songs cover a wide range of sounds yet make for appealing listening.
Vocalist/MC Michelle Antoinette was a soft furnishings designer from Queens, New York before meeting Guitarist/Vocalist and Songwriter Elliott James in a chance encounter at a London pub whilst visiting UK relatives. Before fully devoting himself to music, Elliott worked as a Bartender and tape runner.
Elliott James plays almost all instruments on their tracks and, along with Michelle, produces their records.
Their lyrics mainly deal with the reality of suppressed rights and general disappointment though they claim they are not political. When asked about this, Elliott James commented:
“ | What's political about exercising basic, everyday rights to question or disagree with somebody or voice your opinion? If you don't enact anything wrongful towards a person and just speak for yourself, why can't this be accepted as an individuals right? We just feel it's wrong to dumb down if you feel different, even if the majority claim to disagree. There's no politics in that just common sense surely!? | ” |
They featured on XFM104.9fm when DJ Claire Sturgess played their self-financed single Not Good Enough! in 2005.
Released the home studio produced debut album Music For The Imaginative in August 2006.
