[edit] Suggestion
Can we create a template to use in edit summaries instead of having to type "Bad link repair ([[Wikipedia:Bad links|You can help!]])". TheLimbicOne(talk/cntrb) 02:35, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. It will only save a little time on each article, but it adds up. Usually I put it on my clipboard, but often while editing I end up having it replaced so it becomes a hassle. -- PS2pcGAMER 03:00, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- As a suggestion in the meantime, I use a text expander program when I'm doing bad link or disambiguation link repair. I only type 'blr' and it's replaced with the above edit summary. I'm a Mac user, but I'm pretty sure there are such programs for other operating systems. - ddlamb 21:51, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think the Mediawiki software expands templates in edit summaries...that's probably intentional, and I actually use double curly braces there all the time, to mean the literal text, not the template expansion. -- Beland 03:55, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] helpful tool
I completed most of 'W' bad links using AutoWikiBrowser, a manually assisted program by BlueMoose. It's very useful. :) Gflores Talk 18:41, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] comment
While I was fixing the bad links, I encountered several that were of this kind [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regex]. This should actually be [[Regex]]. I was wondering if the person who collects the bad links could also gather these instances. In fact, a bot could probably do it itself. I'll post this on the bot request page too. [edit] Technical difficulties
Due to the tremendous growth of Wikipedia and my other data-handling responsibilities, I no longer have a machine with enough combined RAM and hard drive space to continue updating this report. We would like to have it run on the Toolserver, but this may take some time. The source code has been posted; if you can help with the Toolserver installation, or wish to run the scripts yourself, please see Meta:Toolserver/Reports. -- Beland 03:58, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe we can contact Interiot and ask him to host it? He has other reports ([1] and [2]). --M@thwiz2020 19:59, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Using AWB
How would I configure AWB to help you guys out? --Mboverload 03:50, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- AWB automatically fixes bad links if you have the "general fixes" option checked. However, due to (a) technical problems with the computer of the person who normally makes the bad link lists and (b) the toolserver being down, it doesn't look like we'll have any lists of articles to fix anytime soon. --M@thwiz2020 22:09, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] broken link instead of bad link
notice: Bluebot caused a broken link when he wanted to repair the article floppy disk. He and the wiki-software has problems with '' and probably with ''', so these constructions should be excluded from replacements or could somebody tell me another (and better) solution instead of escaping the characters? --CyRoXX 17:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
