Bagan is a daikaiju that was going to be given a chance to battle Mothra and Godzilla, but was cut out. It first appeared in a Super Nintendo video game called Super Godzilla (1993). It is the most popular unmade Toho kaiju.

At first, Bagan was going to be a kaiju with three different forms, a dragon, a giant ape, and a sea monster in Return of Godzilla (1984). It could change from one form to a different form and recover from its injuries as soon as it changed shape. The ape, dragon, and sea monster could combine into one final form, but it cannot recover and that is how Godzilla defeated Bagan.
In the 90's, Bagan's body design was completely changed. It became a horned dragon with red, white, and black scales. In a unmade movie called Mothra vs. Bagan, Bagan was going to have a chance to fight Mothra, but the film became a lost project.
In 1993, Bagan appeared in Super Godzilla as the final boss. Bagan first appears in battle as an enormous ball of twisted flesh and bone, but revealed his true form shortly after. The invading aliens claimed they acquired Bagan from Ancient China and fused Godzilla cells (also known as G-cells) and King Ghidorah's cells into the monster's body, making him even more powerful. Bagan was much taller and heavier than Godzilla and was invulnerable to all of Godzilla's attacks. After Godzilla gathered the Super-S energy capsules, Godzilla transformed into Super Godzilla, the only kaiju with the power to challenge Bagan.
In a 1995 unmade film called Bagan vs. Godzilla, Bagan would have had a chance to fight Godzilla. Also, this would be the movie where Godzilla transformed into a new, more powerful form called Super Godzilla. But in the end, Bagan was cut out and replaced by Destoroyah. The movie was changed to Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) and it was a huge success. Since then, Bagan has never been considered for any further multimedia releases.
