Their was a famous historical village "Akuka" situated along the southern bank of river Satluj about 20 kilometers in the northen west of Bahawalnagar City. Before coming into Pakistan this was a part of state of Bahawalpur. This village was named after a famous person "Mian Abdul Sattar Khan Akuka". Before creation of Pakistan their was a "Shahi Sarak" (Royal Road) from Bahawalpur to Delhi passing in the center of "Akuka". People of this village used to clean the road befor the Nawab (Duke) of Bahawalpur passed from this village. Mian Abdul Sattar Khan Akuka was a dacoit used to loot the cruel rich people and was kind on the poor. He also used to loot in Indian area by crossing the border line in early days of Pakistan.
In this village Hindu and Sikh lived in peace along with Muslims. During 1947 crises the people of this village let the Hindus and Sikhs to migrate safely to India unlike other nearby villages where these people were either killed or thrown into the river flood. Floods in river "Satluj" gave much harm to this village many times. In 1988 flood in river was the biggest flood in history of Akuka. The water was spread about 10 kilometers from its northern bank and also risen into the village. At last this famous and historical village was ruined by the river "Satluj" in 1994 completely. Now there is no even a sign of villege there. There is only sand and wild plants on the place where the village was. People of this village moved safely to to establish a new "Akuka" about half a kilometer away. This village was much bigger than any other village in Bahawal Nagar by population and area. Its boundaries meat three districts Bahawal Nagar, Pakpatan and Vihari. There were seven mosques and many handicraft small homemade industries there. Also there were three primary schools out of which two also act as "Madressa". Mufti Syed Muhammad Mazhar Asadi (President of JUI and MMA Bahawalpur District) belongs to Akuka and is son of a very popular Islamic personality Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah.
