Bailey college

The Bailey colleges are a group of colleges of Durham University that are located on the historic peninsula around North and South Bailey street. The colleges usually considered the Bailey Colleges are:-
The Bailey colleges are usually thought of as being the more traditional colleges and all of them require the wearing of gowns at either matriculation, JCR meetings or Formal meals. There is a general rivalry between the Hill colleges and the Bailey colleges which culminates in the "Hill Versus Bailey" rugby match, which groups the College of St Hild and St Bede within the Bailey colleges and Queen's Campus colleges with the Hill, although neither are generally considered to be part of the groupings.
