Picaresque refers to a "low-life" thematic, often with pathetic life-story. It became a "thing" among wealthy patrons of the time to buy paintings of the homeless, vagrants, and slum-dwellers. CARAVAGGISTI 04:00, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
