Barton-under-Needwood

Barton-under-Needwood is a large village in Staffordshire, England. It is situated a mile off the A38 between Burton upon Trent and Lichfield. It has a population of about 5000 people, most of whom commute to Burton or Lichfield to work.
There are a few shops, an infant and junior school, and a large secondary school called John Taylor High School which serves the surrounding villages as well as Barton itself.
Scotish rockstar Rod Stewart almost bought Dunstall Hall on the ouskirts of Barton. But local tycoon Stan Clarke put in a larger bid for the property.
Thomas Gisborne became curate in 1783, being succeeded by his fourth son in 1820

Barton has a well known sports club, which is the home of the village cricket, football, Rugby, Tennis and Tug of War teams. The club is known as The Holland Sports Club, named after the famous Holland family who were resident in Barton for 600 years (1300s to 1900s) The earliest member of that family being Richard de Holland who was involved in the Battle of Burton Bridge in the 1320s. The tug of war team (Est 1970) carries the name 'Holland' and have won many National and International Honours, including the title of Guiness World Record Holders, for a record in Tug of War Endurance that was set in the year 2000.
There are four churchs in Barton, including a C of E, Methodist and Roman Catholic
Barton is most famous for founding the indie rock band mr-man
