Basetsana Kumalo

Basetsana Julia Kumalo (born Basetsana Julia Makgalemele) is a former Miss South Africa and is currently a television presenter and businesswoman.
She first gained fame in 1994 when she won the Miss South Africa competition - the second black woman to achieve this in the formerly all-white beauty pageant. She was the first runner-up in the subsequent Miss World competition.
During her reign she became a presenter on Top Billing, a popular South African entertainment and lifestyle magazine programme; she was also appointed as beauty editor of Drum in the same year.
Kumalo went on to become the producer of the Top Billing as well as the co-owner (with Patience Stevens) of Tswelopele Productions. This company produces Top Billing as well as other popular programmes, such as the Afrikaans Pasella.
She married Romeo Kumalo, a popular South African broadcaster, in 2000.
On the business side, Kumalo is also a Black Economic Empowerment partner in Tawana Resources, a diamond exploration and mining company.
Kumalo was voted 74th in the Top 100 Great South Africans in 2004.
