Talk:Bass (beer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A minor problem with the brewbox notes at the moment, is that this article also includes some discussion on the Bass Strong Ale as well as the India Pale Ale. For example Picasso's pictures mostly included bottles of the red diamond logo'd Strong Ale, rather than the red triangled Pale Ale. Oh, and would anyone care to add a description of how the beer tastes? -- Solipsist 22:38, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Heya, Solipsist. The beers in the brewbox list the 'active' beers, which are currently in production. As for the strong ale, I can find absolutely no record of Bass haveing ever produced one. If they did, it has peobebly been retired for a very long time. I did find a beer label collector, however, that has an undated Bass "red diamond"-labeled bottle that contained a "mild ale", but thet brew appears to have been retired as well. I'll keep looking, though. As for the taste of beers, we at the Beer project hope to get to individual beers eventually, but for now we're concentrating on the "low-hanging fruit": namely the breweries and beer styles, which are a bit of a mess at the moment. – ClockworkSoul 23:19, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I can quite believe that the strong ale is no longer brewed. You can find a metion of it and the red diamond in the 2nd para here. As the red diamond was the second trademark registered in the UK, there must be other references. -- Solipsist 03:29, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Google finds nothing but WikiMirrors (though I know it's real, as per the Coor's web site) – very odd. The UK Patent Office has a searchable trademark database, but it's down at the moment. – ClockworkSoul 03:45, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ownership
Hmm - InBev still list Bass on their press releases (box at foot). Coors Brewing Company don't list it on their product list. I think that we are going to have to be very explicit about what we are talking about on this page. Coors took over a number of the Bass brands - such as Worthington - but not all. - That's fine. I'm happy with setting it to InBev for now. At worst, it would be a little outdated. – ClockworkSoul 03:27, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Move
I suggest a move of this to the more formal name "Bass Brewers Limited." Considering this is the company name (or subcompany name), it should be the article title. Due to the size of the article as well as the vast number of pages linking to it, I thought I should get some consensus, purely for logistical reasons, as well as to give you guys a heads-up.--Ljlego 22:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
