[edit] BSG-75

Anybody feel like adding info on the Galactica from the new BSG series? --Jeff

You know, there's nothing about the name Battlestar Columbia that is any more absurd than Atlantia or Pegasus. --Nick 13:08, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

Actually there is Columbia is another name for America after Christopher Columbus. Someone that lived over 2000 years after the myths of Pegasus and Atlantia were written.

[edit] Viper Count

Fixed the info on the viper count, which was inconsistant with the events of the miniseries. If Galactica had 2 squadrons of 20 MKVII's on board, then what happened to the second squadron? The first squadron launched along with Roslin's ship and was then destroyed by the cylons. When Starbuck is freed from the brig she says that there are 23 pilots but no vipers on board. (It seems unlikely that all 20 of the second squadron would be out of service at this point.) Adama then orders the museum pieces pressed into active duty. Based on this it is much more likely that the 20 MKVII's destroyed in the first attack were all that Galactica had at that time.

Furthermore, there are clearly several MK VII's escorting Roslin's fleet later in the series. These MK VII's were probably still vulnerable to the virus and were thus not capable of intercepting the cylon raiders that tried to destroy the fleet. Most likely these vipers were stowed on the ships, then transferred to Galactica where they were stripped of their vulnerable computer systems. These vipers now form the squadron of 16 MKVII's we see in "Flight of the Phoneix."

[edit] Pegasus

[spoiler] It was recently revealed that the Battlestar Pegasus also survived the Cylon Attack, and will appear in the second season episode 'Pegasus'. [/spoiler]

Perhaps this should be marked as a spoiler? I don't recall hearing this (have seen the miniseries, first season and first ep. of second season) and would rather not have known.

--24.72.69.18 04:58, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Changed the caption on Pegasus' Bowel guns to Bow guns. Those weapons were mounted on the bow, below the 'alligator head' of the ship. 'Bowel' or 'Bowell' (as the title of the picture source file reads) guns might be oriented in a different direction.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 144.247.245.130 (talk • contribs).

Ok. /me needs to learn spell better :-P! MatthewFenton (talk • contribs) 14:46, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Agreed, this is a plot point that should be spoiler material.

It is a spoiler, and that section has a spoiler warning. Aristoi 17:24, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Move RDM Battlestar Up

How about we move the new RDM battlestar up and move the older series to the bottom. This is what they have done on the battlestar wiki. It's pretty obvious which one is more popular and relevant right now.

I agree. Perhaps a short overview section to clarify that there are two (lets not discuss the one in between) Battlestar parts.

I intend to do this as i am doing some cleanup of the article and intend to do some copy editing. Matthew Fenton (Talk | Contribs) 18:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources

All information on Wikipedia should be sourced. Please read WP:VERIFY. Unless people start sourcing the information in this article, I'm going to start deleting everything that I can't confirm myself. AlistairMcMillan 22:54, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Current typographic mess

This article is advancing rapidly but it's got loads of little errors. Please take the time to ensure that edits make sense and don't contain typographical errors before moving on. Chris Cunningham 20:56, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm currently (slowly) working towards getting it up a standard for FA. On the references bit i find having them after a full stop misleading as the end-user could think it referncing the text after the reference. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 20:58, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Every cited document I've ever read has placed references after punctuation. That this also happens to be an established Wikipedia guideline means that there really should be a better reason other than personal opinion to change it. It'd certainly be brought up in an FA discussion. Chris Cunningham 21:00, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, some do put it after a full stop, but also some dont. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:04, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
Not many of those are FA standard, I'd wager. It's up to you; I'm not getting in a revert war about this. Chris Cunningham 21:12, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I dont want to get into a revert war either, i just think the numbers after a full stop look really messy and somebody could easily think it's referencing content in front (full stop typically means end of, right?) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:14, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
PS: I meant GA, made a typo :P thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 21:15, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright Violation

Most of this article has been lifted from the Battlestar Wiki. It is a MediaWiki but uses CC and not GDFL, so copies (by my information) are not possible. --Spencerian 04:02, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Looks like someone [1] copied part of the text over on the 15th, looks minimal though so ill fix it. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 06:22, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Style guidelines again

Hi,

Please stop immediately reverting changes without first checking what the general practice is regarding editing articles. There is no need to inflate the article size with copyright notices which are included in the image pages themselves. As for the whitespace, it's not visible in the article itself and it helps me considerably when editing, so I'd appreciate if you left it in. Chris Cunningham 10:06, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

It may look good to you but it looks hideous to me, also pelase read: this. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 10:09, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Ick. My bad on the image thing. As for the whitespace, I'm asking nicely. It's not a case of aesthetics, it's a case of being easier to tell where sections start when I'm editing. I'll leave this for now, but expect it to go back in wherever I'm doing section edits. Chris Cunningham 10:29, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Whitespace looks really bad and in some browsers it does render some spaces should only be used when needed. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 10:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
