Begin Expressway

The Menachem Begin Expressway (or Begin Boulevard) is an urban expressway in western Jerusalem named after former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin. The road has a north-south path that connects key neighbourhoods and commercial areas, as well as several city arteries and national routes. Begin Expressway is made of the central section, which was completed in 1998, and the extension to Highway 443 to Modi'in, which was completed in late 2002 and multiplexes with Highway 1 for most of its path. The road is internally numbered Jerusalem Route 4, and the extension is marked as national Route 404.
The road is named after Menachem Begin, Israel's sixth prime minister.
